Job summary

Compass Group Canada is hiring a Food Service Worker to prepare, present and serve meals in a healthcare/retail setting. The hourly wage starts at $17.60 and final compensation reflects skills, experience and internal equity.

You'll perform prep work, serve customers, handle cash and maintain safety and sanitation standards while delivering friendly, efficient service. FoodSafe Level 1 and English proficiency are required; prior food service experience is an asset.

Qualifications

• FoodSafe Level 1 Certification is required.
• Familiar with cash register operation is an asset.
• Strong time management and organizational skills to handle heavy workload.
• Ability to work independently and in a team as required.
• Good command of English (verbal and written) and ability to follow instructions.
• Previous food service experience in healthcare, hotel, restaurant or fast food is an asset.
• Physical ability to carry out duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, wash, peel, cut and seed fruits and vegetables.
• Carry pans, kettles and trays to/from work stations, stove and fridge.
• Store food with wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
• Set up items for daily purchase.
• Perform general cleaning; remove trash to designated areas.
• Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment.
• Follow approved recipes and production standards for quality and portions.
• Serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
• Resolve customer concerns and relay information to supervisor.
• Ensure sanitation and safety requirements are met.
• Provide service in all retail areas, including cashiering and line serving.
