WestJet Group is seeking a Flight Dispatch Team Lead to provide front-line leadership in a 24/7 operations environment. You will oversee tactical floor operations, support dispatchers, and ensure adherence to safety, regulatory, and collective agreement requirements.

You will act as the first escalation point for real-time issues, coach staff, and maintain high standards of performance and compliance in a dynamic airline setting in Calgary.

Formación

• Minimum 6 years flight dispatch experience in domestic and international aircraft operations.
• Must be a qualified and maintain currency as a Flight Dispatcher as per the Canadian Aviation Regulations.
• Strong knowledge of flight dispatch, operational control, flight planning, and regulatory compliance in a complex airline environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead in a 24/7 operation and make timely, sound decisions during irregular operations.
• Working knowledge of Transport Canada requirements, safety management systems, and quality assurance practices.
• Ability to interpret and consistently apply collective agreement provisions and established workplace procedures.
• Strong coaching, communication, conflict-resolution, and relationship-management skills.
• Sound judgment, composure, and accountability when managing operational, safety, or people-related escalations.
• A collaborative leadership style focused on employee support, consistent standards, and continuous improvement.

Responsabilidades

• Lead tactical operations: oversee daily dispatch execution and ensure safety and compliance.
• Manage real-time escalations: act as primary contact for live disruptions and regulatory concerns.
• Support workforce scheduling: adjust shifts and manage daily scheduling per CALDA agreement.
• Provide front-line labour support: respond to routine collective agreement questions and resolve concerns early.
• Monitor quality and performance: conduct QA checks and coach dispatchers.
• Document and elevate: record anomalies and escalate significant issues to the Manager, Flight Dispatch.
• Resolve tactical conflicts: support routing, weather, and other dispatch issues with accountability.
• Assume other duties as assigned by the Manager Flight Dispatch.
