Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Cook to prepare and cook food in adherence to standards and procedures. You will assemble mise en place, label and rotate items, and maintain high quality service across a busy kitchen environment.

You should have proven cooking experience, a food safety certification, and a culinary certificate, with the ability to work independently or in a team and communicate clearly with other departments.

Qualifications

• Proven cooking experience in a restaurant or prep kitchen.
• Food Safety Certification is required.
• Certificate from a recognized cooking school.
• Strong knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients and equipment.
• High accuracy and speed in completing tasks.
• Familiar with industry best practices.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, pre-cook and cook food as directed.
• Set up mise en place and other items for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment after use per health and safety policies.
• Label, date, store and rotate food items in proper storage areas.
• Communicate effectively with operational departments.
• Report maintenance issues or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
