Job summary

Battlefield Equipment Rentals is hiring a Small Engine & Heater Mechanic in Barrie, ON. This full-time, permanent role focuses on diagnosing and repairing heaters, small engines, and customer-owned tools on rental equipment, with daily maintenance and service tasks across the fleet.

You will work closely with a service team to ensure safety, quality repairs, and timely delivery. A strong mechanical background and willingness to work hands-on are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Small Engines Technician or similar role with experience on 2-stroke and 4-stroke gas engines.
• Experience working on construction heaters (propane and natural gas).
• Experience with small electrical tools, forklifts, aerial lifts, and Stihl products.
• Willingness to work in a hands-on repair environment and follow safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair defective heaters and small engines on rental equipment.
• Diagnose, service, and maintain QA rental equipment.
• Diagnose and repair customer-owned tools and equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on fleet and customer equipment.
• Load and unload rental equipment and explain operating instructions.
• Maintain the yard and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner.
• Support branch operations with additional duties as required.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely repairs and service delivery.
