Job summary

Canada Cartage is seeking an experienced Fleet Shop Manager to lead our maintenance team and oversee shop operations. You will coach Technicians and a Shop Service Writer, ensuring repairs are performed safely and efficiently while optimizing maintenance routines.

The role focuses on developing people, improving processes, and keeping a busy fleet running reliably. A college diploma or equivalent and proven leadership in a fast-paced shop environment are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Shop Supervisor, Shop Foreman, Fleet Maintenance Lead, or similar leadership role.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing a team in a fast-paced maintenance environment.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Experience with fleet or vehicle maintenance operations.
  • Mechanic/technician experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.

Canada Cartage is looking for an experienced FleetShop Manager to lead our shop operations and maintenance team. This is an opportunity for a hands‑on leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes, and keeping a busy fleet operating safely and efficiently.

What You’ll Do

As the Fleet Maintenance Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance shop while leading and developing a team of Technicians and a Shop Service Writer.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead, coach, and develop Technicians and the Shop Service Writer through scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Oversee daily shop operations to ensure repairs and maintenance are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
  • Plan and prioritize repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance.
  • Manage work orders, maintenance records, and repair history using fleet maintenance software.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Manage relationships with parts suppliers, vendors, and warranty providers.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs to maximize fleet uptime and reduce breakdowns.
  • Monitor maintenance costs and performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Manage the shop budget and implement cost-control measures.
