Canada Cartage seeks a Warehouse Operations Manager in Winnipeg, MB to lead a 24/7 operation for multiple clients in a unionized setting. You’ll drive labor planning, implement processes, and manage budgets to hit P&L targets while maintaining service excellence.

Qualifications

  • 5–10 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations (3PL).
  • Supervisory or leadership experience with team development.
  • Strong customer-facing experience with high-expectation clients.
  • Experience in fast-paced, evolving or startup environments preferred.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site leadership support.
  • Strong problem-solving and quick decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, and material handling.
  • Experience with WMS systems.
  • Financial acumen with budgeting, cost control, or P&L management.
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Support inventory oversight and system-driven improvements over time.
  • Ensure accuracy of WMS inputs and KPI reporting.
  • Manage budget responsibilities including labor and expenses to meet P&L targets.

Warehouse Operations Manager

Position Summary

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a multi-client third-party logistics warehouse. This role is accountable for ensuring operational performance, employee management and welfare, and budget targets are achieved within a unionized environment.

The Warehouse Operations Manager will play a critical role in managing ongoing communication, resolving issues, and maintaining a high level of service in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

This is an opportunity to be a part of a successful and growing operation. The role requires a hands-on, self-directed leader who can operate independently while collaborating within a larger team.

The facility is 190,000 sq ft with customers in a variety of industries with close to ~40 full-time employees.

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba
Schedule: Schedule can vary. Mon - Fri, 40+ hours

What you will do
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors and warehouse staff across a 24/7 operation
  • Support the ongoing development of the operation, including establishing processes, workflows, and best practices
  • Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and structuring of the warehouse team, including selection of supervisory staff
  • Manage labour planning, scheduling, and performance to meet operational and financial targets
  • Monitor KPIs and drive continuous improvement to achieve productivity, service, and cost objectives
  • Collaborate with transportation and terminal teams to ensure alignment and smooth execution for customers
  • Oversee daily warehouse activities
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Support inventory oversight and accuracy within a primarily manual operation, transitioning to system-supported processes over time
  • Ensure accuracy of WMS and KPI inputs
  • Manage budget responsibilities including labor, supplies, and operational expenses to meet P&L targets
  • Foster a positive team environment with strong communication and engagement
What You’ll Bring
  • 5–10 years of experience in warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations; 3PL experience
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, with a track record of developing teams
  • Strong customer-facing experience, with the ability to manage high-expectation clients
  • Experience working in fast-paced, evolving, or startup environments is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and operate as a self-starter with minimal on-site leadership support
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
  • Familiarity with warehouse operations including shipping, receiving, and material handling
  • Experience with WMS systems
  • Financial acumen, with exposure to budgeting, cost control, or P&L management
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)
