Job summary

Transport Laberge in the Montreal region seeks a Technical Manager for Maintenance Centers to raise maintenance standards across our shops. You will be the technical reference, ensuring equipment reliability, repair quality, and consistent work methods across sites.

You’ll lead preventive and corrective maintenance practices, analyze recurring issues, validate supplier recommendations, and support training.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in heavy vehicle mechanics or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in heavy vehicle fleet maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Strong leadership and ability to mobilize teams across sites; bilingual is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Establish technical repair standards for all maintenance centers.
  • Define best practices for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Act as the technical reference for supervisors, foremen, and mechanics.
  • Analyze recurring breakdowns and identify root causes.
  • Support complex diagnostics and major mechanical issues.
  • Oversee warranties and manufacturer claims.
  • Maintain relationships with manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Identify technical training needs and promote knowledge sharing.

We are looking for a Technical Manager who can raise the standards of our maintenance centers and support the performance of our fleet.

Your Role

As Technical Manager, Maintenance Centers, you will act as the technical reference for our maintenance shops. Your mission will be to ensure equipment reliability, repair quality, consistency in work methods, and continuous improvement in preventive and corrective maintenance practices.

What You’ll Do
Technical Leadership and Standards
  • Establish technical repair standards for all maintenance centers.
  • Define best practices for preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Act as the technical reference for supervisors, foremen, and mechanics.
Reliability, Diagnostics, and Quality
  • Analyze recurring breakdowns and identify root causes.
  • Support complex diagnostics and major mechanical issues.
  • Implement actions to improve equipment reliability and reduce repeat repairs.
Warranties, Manufacturers, and Specialized Suppliers
  • Oversee technical files related to warranties and manufacturer claims.
  • Validate key technical quotes and recommendations from external suppliers.
  • Maintain technical relationships with manufacturers and specialized suppliers.
Shop Support and Skills Development
  • Support workshop teams in resolving technical issues.
  • Identify technical training needs.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and the application of best practices.
Warranties, Manufacturers, and Suppliers
  • Oversee technical files related to warranties and manufacturer claims.
  • Validate technical recommendations and quotes from external suppliers.
  • Maintain effective technical relationships with manufacturers and specialized suppliers.
Fleet Strategy Contribution
  • Participate in decisions related to replacing, retaining, or acquiring equipment.
  • Recommend improvements to reduce operating costs.
  • Support innovation, electrification, and technology improvement projects.
Your Profile
  • Diploma in heavy vehicle mechanics or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Significant experience in heavy vehicle fleet maintenance, advanced diagnostics, or technical shop management.
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance practices, mechanical diagnostics, and repair quality.
  • Ability to influence, support, and mobilize technical teams across multiple sites.
  • Rigor, sound judgment, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Strong communication skills with operations, suppliers, manufacturers, and management.
  • French/English bilingualism is a strong asset.
