Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice to receive on-the-job training in inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs to ensure safe operation of the company fleet. The role involves learning DOT-compliant maintenance standards and company procedures while supporting mechanics and performing routine servicing.

As an apprentice, you will help with paperwork, tire inspections, fuel and wash duties, and keep a clean, safe shop environment in line with OSHA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Currently registered as a Level 3 apprentice with Skilled Trades Ontario in the Truck & Coach (310T) trade.
• Knowledge of tools required to perform vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Strong work ethic and safety consciousness.

Responsibilities

• Perform limited repairs and preventive maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, and filter replacements.
• Document parts usage, repair times and complete required paperwork.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections and report deterioration for repair or replacement.
• Assist mechanics with repairs and projects as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain inventory and use M5 program for reporting.
