Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice in Ontario to learn inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on company vehicles. You will work under supervision to help keep fleets safe and compliant with DOT regulations and company standards.

Responsibilities include oil changes, tire rotations, paperwork, and assisting mechanics. A Level 1 or 2 310T apprenticeship is required, along with strong safety awareness and teamwork in a dynamic shop environment.

Qualifications

• Must be registered as a Level 1 or 2 310T Apprentice.
• Ability to read and follow maintenance manuals and guidelines.
• Strong safety orientation and attention to detail in a shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform limited repairs and preventive maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and tire rotations.
• Document parts usage and repair times; complete required paperwork.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections and report equipment deterioration.
• Assist mechanics with repairs and shop projects as assigned.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Assist in inventories and reporting in M5 program.

Job description

The Maintenance Apprentice will receive on-the-job training on performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and will assist with minor repairs to ensure proper performance and safety of company vehicles. This individual will learn how to properly maintain commercial motor vehicles according to DOT regulations and Company standard

The Maintenance Apprentice will receive on-the-job training on performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and will assist with minor repairs to ensure proper performance and safety of company vehicles. This individual will learn how to properly maintain commercial motor vehicles according to DOT regulations and Company standard

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform limited repairs and preventive maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, filter replacements, tire rotations, minor adjustments, etc.
• Complete required paperwork associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections; identify, record, and report equipment deterioration for replacement or repair
• Assist mechanics with repairs and projects as assigned by supervisor
• Tire inspections, removal and replacements
• Fuel and wash Company vehicles
• Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to company safety procedures, and follow established techniques to perform Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure shop equipment and tools are in safe operating condition
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA Standards
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
• Assist in maintaining inventory and reporting in M5 program

Knowledge, Skills & Key Competencies:

• Must be registered as a Level 1 or 2 310T Apprentice
• Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles
• Ability to follow schedules, instructions, technical manuals and maintenance guidelines, and other procedures associated with the maintenance of the company fleet
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
• Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity and trust
