Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice to train on inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs to ensure safety and proper performance of the company fleet. You will learn to maintain commercial motor vehicles per DOT regulations and company standards.

The role involves assisting mechanics, performing routine service tasks, and completing related paperwork in a fast-paced shop environment, with emphasis on safety and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles.
• Ability to follow schedules, instructions, manuals and maintenance guidelines.
• Currently registered as a Level 3 apprentice with Skilled Trades Ontario (310T).
• Strong work ethic with integrity and trust.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Self-starter able to work in a team or independently.
• Attention to detail, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform limited repairs and preventive maintenance (oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, filter replacements, tire rotations).
• Complete required paperwork and document parts usage and repair times.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections and report deterioration for repair or replacement.
• Assist mechanics with repairs and projects as assigned by supervisor.
• Inspect tires and perform removal/replacements; fuel and wash company vehicles.
