Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice to learn inspections, preventative maintenance, and assist with minor repairs to ensure safe and reliable company vehicles. You will learn how to perform maintenance in accordance with DOT regulations and company standards, under supervision, and contribute to timely paperwork, safety checks, and fleet upkeeping.

Qualifications

Currently registered as a Level 3 apprentice with Skilled Trades Ontario in the Truck & Coach (310T) trade.
Ability to perform inspections and basic repairs to maintain fleet safety and reliability.
Ability to read and follow technical manuals, instructions, and maintenance guidelines.
Strong work ethic and ability to work well in a team or independently.

Responsibilities

Perform limited repairs and preventive maintenance such as oil changes, lubrication, tune-ups, filter replacements, tire rotations, minor adjustments.
Complete required paperwork for repairs, document parts usage, and track repair times.
Conduct vehicle safety inspections and report deterioration for replacement or repair.
Assist mechanics with repairs and projects as assigned by supervisor.
Tire inspections, removal and replacements; fuel and wash company vehicles.
Operate tools and maintain a safe, organized work area; follow safety procedures and OSHA standards.
Assist in maintaining inventory and reporting in M5 program.
