Job summary

Defence Construction Canada seeks a Technical Specialist in Fire and Life Safety to develop, implement and monitor client fire and life safety programs. You will advise on prevention, engineering, investigations and emergency planning across sites and client-partners.

You will lead fire prevention initiatives, oversee compliance of systems, provide training and maintain records while coordinating with authorities and stakeholders to uphold safety standards.

Qualifications

• Requires college diploma in fire and life safety systems or related field with four years of experience.
• Preferred NFPA certification with minimum three years in a fire engineering organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire prevention initiatives and issue permits; follow up on action items in fire prevention reports.
• Oversee fire engineering construction and commissioning plans for compliance.
• Oversee inspection, testing and maintenance of fire suppression and detection systems.
• Develop and maintain relations with Client-Partners and stakeholders.
• Provide fire training for Client-Partners and on-site personnel.
• Act as emergency coordinator, developing emergency plans and training.
• Carry out preliminary fire investigations and coordinate with authorities.
• Support and/or lead business development activities.
