Design Works Engineering Ltd. in Edmonton, AB, is seeking a Fire Suppression Systems Designer with a strong background in design, analysis, and implementation of fire protection systems for commercial and multi-family buildings.

You will lead projects, ensure compliance with NFPA and building codes, prepare drawings in AutoCAD/Revit, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, code-compliant fire protection solutions during construction.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with Fire Protection specialization.
• Minimum 10 years' experience in designing fire protection systems for commercial, low/high-rise, and multi-family residential buildings.
• P.Eng. designation in good standing is an asset.
• Fluency in English is required for clear communication.
• Strong communication and coordination with inter-discipline teams and clients.
• Familiarity with NFPA codes and building codes; ability to apply client specifications.

Responsabilidades

• Design and specification of Fire Protection Systems, including fire suppression, fire alarm, smoke management, and emergency lighting.
• Prepare engineering drawings and specifications for fire protection systems.
• Stamp engineering drawings to certify compliance with codes and professional requirements.
• Review client specifications to ensure fire protection requirements are incorporated.
• Write technical reports and analyses to support design submissions.
• Review shop drawings and contribute to engineering standards across projects.
• Coordinate with suppliers/contractors to meet project requirements.
• Visit project sites for inspections and assessments during construction.
• Perform fire risk assessments and modelling, including egress modelling and fire dynamics simulations.
