Qualifications

  • CPA designation with 3–5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in oil and gas, preferably E&P.
  • Experience with Canadian publicly traded financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Support quarterly financial reporting, consolidation, lead sheet prep, and journal entry review.
  • Prepare and analyze complex accounting calculations including decommissioning liabilities, depletion, FX, and stock-based compensation.
  • Assist in preparation of quarterly financial statements and MD&A.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and internal analyses.
  • Contribute to monthly management reporting packages with variance analysis and commentary.
  • Provide accounting and financial support to the finance team, including data collection, analysis, and modeling.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.

Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Consultant for a 12-month contract engagement. The successful candidate will support the finance team in the preparation and delivery of monthly and quarterly financial reporting, manage complex accounting activities, and contribute to the preparation of financial statements and Management’s Discussion & Analysis (MD&A). Key responsibilities include performing account reconciliations, developing management reporting, conducting ongoing financial analysis, and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information to support business decision-making and regulatory reporting requirements.

Your Success Will Be Defined By Your Ability To
  • Support the quarterly financial reporting process, including consolidation activities, lead sheet preparation, and journal entry review.
  • Prepare and analyze complex accounting calculations and entries, including decommissioning liabilities, depletion, foreign exchange, and stock-based compensation.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial statements and Management's Discussion & Analysis (MD&A).
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly account reconciliations, along with internal financial analyses and reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly management reporting packages, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Provide accounting and financial support to the finance team, including data collection, analysis, and financial modeling.
  • Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.
Your Strengths Include
  • CPA designation with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Prior experience within the oil and gas industry, preferably with exploration and production (E&P) companies.
  • Experience supporting financial reporting for publicly traded Canadian organizations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
