Job summary

Finlink Group is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant for a 12-18 month contract in Canada. You will lead monthly close, prepare financial statements, and support regulatory filings and audits.

The role requires a CPA designation, a BS in Accounting/Finance, and 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. You will partner with diverse teams, drive process improvements, and ensure accurate financial reporting for senior leadership.

Qualifications

• CPA designation is required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises).
• Experience with full-cycle accounting including purchasing and billing.
• Experience with monthly close and regulatory reporting (GST/HST, WCB, royalties).
• Auditing support and year-end activities experience.
• Ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly close, reconcile balance sheet accounts, post journal entries.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for leadership and external stakeholders.
• Prepare and file regulatory returns (GST/HST, WCB, royalties).
• Maintain customer and vendor records and related financial information.
• Support year-end audit process and coordinate with external auditors.
• Contribute to finance initiatives and process improvements.
• Provide support across the finance team as needed.

We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established organization seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to join their finance team on a 12-18 month contract. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on delivering accurate financial reporting, improving processes, and partnering with teams across the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate completion of monthly financial reporting while supporting the broader finance team with year-end activities, compliance, and ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the monthly close process, including preparing working papers, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and posting journal entries
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for senior leadership and external stakeholders
• Prepare and file regulatory returns, including GST/HST, WCB, royalties, and other required filings
• Maintain customer and vendor records and related financial information
• Support the year-end audit process and coordinate with external auditors
• Contribute to finance initiatives and continuous improvement projects
• Provide support across the finance department as needed

What We’re Looking For

• CPA designation (required)
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
• Experience with full-cycle accounting, including purchasing and billing
• Excellent analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint
• Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software is considered an asset
• Experience in the mining or manufacturing industry is considered an asset
