Job summary

Ideal candidates have a Commerce degree with Accounting focus, 3–5 years of experience, and advanced Excel skills. The role emphasizes collaboration, accuracy, and continuous learning in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Commerce with Accounting focus.
  • Three to five years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong spreadsheet skills.
  • Experience preparing financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and reconciliations.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Enrollment in a professional accounting designation program is considered an asset.
  • Collaborative approach and commitment to a positive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly financial reports, variance analysis, and commentary on departmental operating expenses.
  • Support development of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-range financial projections.

Work Location: 6080 Young Street, Halifax, NS (On-site, 5 days per week) Department: Finance & Corporate Services Reports To: Accounting Manager

Employment Status: Full time, 40 hours per week

By analyzing financial results, identifying trends, and providing meaningful insights, they play an important role in supporting operational performance and business success.

In this role, you'll support a variety of operating departments by providing financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis. Working closely with Accounting and business partners , you'll help ensure financial information is accurate, actionable, and supports effective decision-making.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Financial Analyst, you'll help provide the financial insights that support planning and performance across the organization. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing monthly financial reports, variance analysis, and commentary on departmental operating expenses.
