Job summary

Air North is hiring a Finance Specialist in Whitehorse, Yukon to prepare and reconcile multiple accounts for Air North and Chieftain Energy, assist with financial software development, and support accounting functions as needed.

The role involves reconciling airline revenue accounts, prepaid expenses, and fixed assets, plus testing Sage Intacct processes and training staff in AP/AR and reporting. Must have 4+ years of accounting experience and relevant diploma.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years’ accounting experience.
  • Diploma in accounting field or equivalent experience.
  • A strong sense of accountability, honesty, and responsibility in all tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and reconcile Global Distribution System airline revenue and associated accounts.
  • Prepare and reconcile prepaid expenses and accrued liabilities.
  • Process Chieftain Energy fixed assets and miscellaneous journal entries on a monthly basis.
  • Test and prepare new Sage Intacct system processes, and provide training to support transition of duties to Air North and Chieftain staff in areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting.
  • Support the preparation and reporting of fuel taxes as required.
  • Provide support to Accounts Payable as required.
  • Design custom reports in Sage Intacct as required.

Role Summary:

The Finance Specialist is responsible for preparing and reconciling numerous accounts for both Air North and Chieftain Energy, assisting with the development of financial software, and supporting other accounting functions, systems, and software as required.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and reconcile Global Distribution System airline revenue and associated accounts
  • Prepare and reconcile prepaid expenses and accrued liabilities
  • Process Chieftain Energy fixed assets and miscellaneous journal entries on a monthly basis
  • Test and prepare new Sage Intacct system processes, and provide training to support the transition of related duties to Air North and Chieftain administrative staff in areas such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting
  • Support the preparation and reporting of fuel taxes as required
  • Provide support to Accounts Payable as required
  • Design custom reports in Sage Intacct as required

Must haves:

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years’ accounting experience
  • Diploma in accounting field or equivalent experience
