Job summary

Air North is seeking a First Cook in Whitehorse, Yukon to join a team delivering high-quality catering for flights. The role involves developing daily menu items, maintaining standard recipes, and collaborating with peers to ensure consistent food preparation aligned with our standards.

Ideal candidates will have a culinary apprenticeship with 5+ years experience, a valid drivers license, and solid knowledge of health and safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • Combination of culinary apprenticeship and experience exceeding 5 years.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Strong sense of accountability, honesty, and responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide menu development input.
  • Contribute to a cultivated team environment and provide support to peers.
  • Maintain a level of food preparation consistent with business levels and leadership direction.
  • Adhere to standard recipes and specifications to ensure consistency.
  • Ensure safety regulations are followed as laid out by regulatory bodies.

Wage: $24.00 Hours of Work: Full-Time (35-40 hours per week) Location: Whitehorse, Yukon

Role Summary:

The incumbent ensures catering standardization and that all food preparations meets or exceeds established requirements. The First Cook works with a degree of independence to create daily menu items as well as brain storming new ideas!

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide menu development input
  • Contribute to a cultivated team environment and provide support, motivation and encouragement to peers
  • Maintain a level of food preparation consistent with business levels & leadership direction
  • Adhere to standard recipes and specifications in order to maintain consistency and ensure all standards are met
  • Ensure all activities are following all safety regulations laid out by regulatory bodies
Must haves:
  • Combination of culinary apprenticeship and experience exceeding 5 years
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations
  • A strong sense of accountability, honesty, and responsibility in all tasks, supporting the trust that we have built with passengers, partners, and communities
  • Enthusiasm for contributing to our unique mission, whether that’s through direct customer service, operational excellence, or behind-the-scenes support
  • Must be a legally entitled to work in Canada
Nice to haves:
  • Valid Food Safe, WHMIS and First Aid
  • Ability to comfortably operate a 5-ton truck
