Job description

Sedgman is currently seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join our Vancouver, B.C. office location.

The Finance Business Partner (or Finance BP) is the key finance contact within the North American business units (BU) to ensure accurate and timely month end budgeting and forecast reporting. He / She will play a key role in developing, implementing and analysing the reporting activities of the BU.

This is a hands‑on, stand‑alone role that provides the required financial and systems support to the Business Units in North America. The incumbent will be able to identify new opportunities through their financial leadership and provide leading and innovative solutions focused on value.

What does this role involve? Main Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for accuracy and timely reporting of business unit results;
  • Coordinate and assist in the analysis of monthly performance providing meaningful explanations of variances to budget and forecast for projects and overheads;
  • Assist with weekly chargeability and utilisation calculations
  • Review and provide assistance with timesheets and cost rate calculations and queries
  • Identify and assist in the streamlining processes. eg month end accruals, budgeting and forecasting process, billings and cash collections etc.
  • Liaise with auditors for interim and full year reporting to provide analysis and evidence of related balances;
  • Utilize full ‑ cycle AR and AP knowledge to support the team, including preparing necessary journals and accruals to ensure an accurate and timely month ‑ end close;
  • Conduct financial analysis on prospective customers;
  • Provide required training to the business unit on relevant matters;
  • Support ad‑hoc report requests;
  • Prepare weekly and monthly cashflow forecasts
  • Prepare GL reconciliations
  • In country liaison for insurance improvement
  • Provide assistance to the corporate tax team on GST, PST, and QST matters
What are we looking for in our future team member? Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance and/or Commerce

Professional designation - CA/CPA qualified or studying towards a qualification.

Must have 5+ years of relevant work experience in financial / management accounting roles within a large corporate environment (preferably in Professional Services)

Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Advanced excel modelling skills;

Problem solving and analytical skills;

Ability to prioritise and control workload arising from a broad user base.

Experience working with large ERP’s.

Will be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
