Navacord is seeking a Finance Assistant in Toronto, Ontario to support day-to-day transactional tasks, data entry, and reconciliations across Navacord partners. The role involves handling A/R, A/P, bank reconciliations, and general ledger activities while ensuring policy compliance.

The position supports multiple Navacord partners and offers a collaborative, growth-oriented environment with a focus on accurate financial reporting and audits. Four-month contract with potential extension.

Job description

As a member of the Finance team, the Finance Assistant plays a vital role in assisting in day-to-day transactional tasks, data entry, account reconciliations, and administrative support to help support the overall well-being of the department while collaborating with all members. This individual will assist with accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, general ledger activities, as well carrier reconciliations while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and internal policies. The Finance Assistant will manage the above for several Navacord partners, including but not limited to: Navacord Ives (NVI) and Navacord Travel Solutions (NTS): AwayCare Inc., Travel Guardian Ltd., Medi-Quote Insurance Brokers, and SecuriGlobe Insurance Canada. Additional partners may be added throughout any given year.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with collection and recognition of cash and cheque deposits at their work location.
  • Assisting with accounts receivable processes, including posting of incoming payments, application of financing notices of acceptance, small balance write-offs, and more.
  • Assist with accounts payables processes, including data entry for various expense types (credit card payments, employee expense reports, multiple invoice vendors, etc.)
  • Help to maintain financial records and proper filing systems within the companies' accounting folders in accordance with audit and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in reconciling carrier statements (direct bill or agency bill), as directed by the Reconciliation Coordinator.
  • Perform administrative duties including filing, scanning, and maintaining documentation for audits.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in accounting processes and controls.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Controller, Accounts Receivables Coordinator, Accounts Payable Coordinator, or Reconciliation Coordinator to support departmental objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or administrative role; insurance or financial services experience is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • Strong organization skills, and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and complete tasks effectively, prioritize tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion and confidentiality.
