Job summary

Navacord is seeking a Risk Advisor to support large clients with risk and insurance solutions under the mentorship of a Senior Advisor. You will cultivate strong client relationships, identify opportunities for growth, and ensure service quality across a substantial book of business.

You will collaborate with internal teams to tailor insurance programs, review coverage gaps, and leverage your commercial insurance expertise to advise clients.

Qualifications

  • Commercial insurance experience required.
  • Strong business acumen with natural sales aptitude.
  • Level II license required; CIP/CRM/CAIB preferred.
  • Lifelong learning and provincial licenses evident.
  • Breadth across commercial insurance with strong policy knowledge.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Our Risk Advisor is an experienced insurance professional deployed to large clients and books of business under an experienced Senior Advisor. The Risk Advisor will embody strong consultative skills and focus on client retention, expansion within existing accounts and the overall client experience under the tutelage of a primary relationship holder.

Collaborative by nature the Risk Advisor has initiative, coupled with a sense of competitive drive, and the ability to stay focused on results despite changing conditions, is the key to achieving the performance objectives of this role. The client needs are dynamic and therefore the work in the role involves innovation and creativity in generating solutions to better the client experience.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:
  • Most importantly, you will lead by example, live our values, and support sales growth through client retention for a large book of business or priority clients.
  • Drive new business opportunities through expanding sales in existing accounts and supporting cross sell opportunities into other areas of the business.
  • Support the growth of the organization each year by continually growing the client base.
  • With the Senior Advisor, ensure accountability for the client insurance program including all recommendations and ensuring gaps in coverage reviewed and addressed.
  • Act as the client’s advisor in risk and insurance under the tutelage of the primary relationship Advisor.
  • Be active in your networks and your community, attending industry and community events with a focus on business development.
  • A key emphasis on building rapport and relationships and ensuring that strong long-term relationships are created by providing an industry leading level of support to clients in maintaining their insurance facilities.
  • Attend information gathering meetings, and contacting the key information provider and/or decision maker of the clients by phone, e-mail, etc.;
  • Liaise with key decision makers and information providers on an account, and will continue to be positioned by the organization as the key resource to the account;
  • Prepare mid-year reviews for clients with the Senior Advisor;
  • Review the renewal proposal with the Senior Advisor to ensure that it aligns with the client's expectations;
  • Responsible for managing the Marketing process within the book of business;
  • Responsible to support the delivery of clear instructions and collaborate with the Client Manager team;
  • Attending new business, strategy, pre-renewal, and renewal meetings;
  • Direct dealings with Insurers;
  • Support of all Navacord Policies and Procedures.
  • Other duties as required.
WHAT WE REQUIRE:
  • Commercial insurance experience required.
  • Strong business acumen along with a natural sales aptitude.
  • Level II license required; preferred an academic background consisting of post secondary education, certificates, industry programs, such as CIP, CRM, or CAIB.
  • An academic background consisting of post secondary education, certificates, industry programs, etc. Evidence of lifelong learning and all appropriate provincial licenses.
  • Demonstrated breadth across commercial insurance and depth with policy wordings and coverages within key industry sectors.
  • Strong business acumen along with a natural sales aptitude proven experience of strong consultative abilities.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy and business acumen with a focus on customer service and the overall client experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Preferred experience with our internal Broker Management Systems (EPIC).
