Job Summary
We are a growing company, currently seeking dedicated, adaptable individuals to join Grimco. Grimco is a national wholesale sign supply manufacturer and distributor that has been around for over 145 years with 50+ locations in the United States, 8 in Canada, and recent expansion into the United Kingdom. At Grimco, we would be nothing without the success of our Field Service Technician Team. The Technician Team demonstrates determination, competitive drive, and an eagerness to learn all facets of our company. They must also possess the drive to make an immediate impact on a growing company. Never satisfied with the status quo and always hungry to learn more.

This role is based out of our Toronto/Corporate locations with the scheduled hours of 8:30am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Deliver post start up customer support relating to equipment operation and process performance.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on company product lines.
  • Provide advice in returning equipment to optimal performance.
  • Inspect, install, troubleshoot, replace parts, and refurbish equipment to ensure equipment quality and performance to specifications.
  • Responsible for technical advice to customers on methods to optimize equipment operation and process performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment operation and process problems reported by customers.
  • Prepare reports documenting troubleshooting and warranty activities.
  • Participate in the development of corrective actions improving equipment operation and performance.
  • Travel as required to resolve operational or performance issues.
  • Run on-site and remote diagnostics and support customers.
  • Develop and maintain excellent customer relations, be the first line resource for customer questions or concerns.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in equipment installation/troubleshooting/technical support.
  • Completed Post Secondary Education from an accredited college/university.
  • Certifications for various HP and Epson hardware/software asset.
  • Valid Driver’s License and Personal Vehicle for travel to customer locations for service calls. (Car Allowance and Gas Card provided for work purposes)
  • Valid Passport and ability to travel throughout Canada and the United States.
  • Previous experience with ERP and CRM systems.
  • Fluent in English and French considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Characteristics

  • Requires the ability to lift, push, pull and carry tools and materials weighing 50+ pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Knowledge of full-service cycle and best practices.
  • Ability to use basic tools and test equipment including hand tools, power drills, multi-meters, watt-meters, and soldering equipment.
  • Competency in MS Office Suite, internet navigation, and data entry experience.
  • Ability to take direction and to make independent decisions in a dynamic environment.
  • Critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superb interpersonal skills, including the ability to quickly build rapport with both customers and suppliers.
  • Active listener who can effectively problem solve and think outside the box.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency and true commitment to customers and team members.
  • Confidence and a positive attitude are a must!

Training & Development

  • 3 weeks of focused training time followed by ongoing support by team members
  • Majority of time training is focused on: products, computer systems, phones/customers, sales/service, purchasing, logistics, web store, marketing, safety, accounting, human resources, and reports.
  • Split between break-out session and hands-on learning environment.
