Job summary

The Salvation Army in Toronto is seeking a Outreach Worker for a 3-month term to support the Outreach Program under the supervision of the Outreach Supervisor. The role involves direct outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness, needs assessment, and linkage to shelter, housing, addictions, and mental health services.

Responsibilities include client documentation, data entry, and participation in seminars, staff meetings, and training sessions.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent with relevant coursework in social sciences.
• CPR/First Aid certification and Crisis Intervention training are preferred.
• Clear criminal records check is required; Hostel Standards training is an asset.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Contact individuals experiencing homelessness and build trust.
• Assess client needs and connect to shelter, housing, addictions, mental health services.
• Record and maintain program statistics and funder reporting.
• Coordinate with community agencies to expand outreach.
• Ensure upkeep of outreach vehicle and equipment.
• Initiate and monitor client action plans; document progress.
• Perform clerical duties for client records and forms.
• Enforce agency rules and attend required trainings and meetings.
• Represent the organization professionally in all interactions.
