Job summary

The Salvation Army in Canada is seeking a Temporary Part Time House Support Worker to help create a safe, supportive environment for shelter residents on Saturdays and Sundays, 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. Averaging agreement applies.

You will handle intake, documentation, resident programming, and coordination with police, funders, and staff, while upholding safety policies and mission-driven service.

Qualifications

• Willingness to develop an understanding and support for The Salvation Army in Canada and its responsibilities.
• Ability and willingness to undergo background checks and screenings.
• Compliance with OH&S Act and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Monitor environment and clients to ensure safety; perform status checks and room searches.
• Maintain documentation including in-out and incident logs.
• Provide laundry service for shelters and clients.
• Clean shelter areas and perform basic maintenance; complete required reports.
• Coordinate and facilitate resident programming as required.
• Perform intake and discharge procedures for clients/residents.
• Intervene in crises, provide emotional support and advocacy.
• Distribute funds to residents per policy; liaise with agencies and staff.
• Attend mandatory in-person staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
