Placements24 is seeking a skilled Field Operations Technician to support oil and gas activities in the Kimberley region, with potential remote assignments where feasible.

You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues, and ensure safety compliance. The role involves working independently and as part of a team, with travel to remote sites and on-call support as needed.

Qualifications

• NQF Level 4/5 in Mechanical Fitting or Electrical Trade.
• At least 3 years in field operations or maintenance within oil and gas or similar industry.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical/electrical/hydraulic issues and work safely.
• Strong record-keeping and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on oil and gas field equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Ensure compliance with HSE policies and procedures.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Field Operations Technician to support their activities in the Kimberley region and potentially other remote locations. This hands-on role involves maintaining and troubleshooting equipment crucial to oil and gas operations. You will work independently and as part of a team, ensuring the smooth running of field infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on oil and gas field equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with HSE policies and procedures.
• Operate and maintain specialized tools and equipment used in field operations.
• Document maintenance activities, equipment status, and any encountered issues.
• Respond to operational emergencies and assist in implementing mitigation measures.

Requirements

• Technical qualification (e.g., NQF Level 4/5) in Mechanical Fitting, Electrical Engineering, or a related trade.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a field operations or maintenance role within the oil and gas industry or a similar industrial sector.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations relevant to field operations.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in remote or challenging environments.
• Good communication skills and a commitment to detailed record-keeping.
