Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Trail, BC is seeking Field Labourers to join a team of trained professionals providing supplemental support to various divisions.

Responsibilities include swamping, assisting with pump operations, equipment set-up, site prep, and general labor on job sites. A valid Class 5 license, ability to travel, and after-hours availability are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license and driving abstract required.
• Ability to travel when required.
• Flexibility to work after-hours or on-call as needed.
• Experience in harsh or industrial environments is an asset.
• Swamping experience (vacuum/hydrovac) is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Operator with the safe operation of the various units.
• Assist with set up and control hoses attached to pumps to ensure safe pumping of water.
• Install temporary equipment including victaulic pipe and mixing chemicals.
• Participate in job site preparation and rigging in/out of equipment.
• Spot safe positioning of equipment and maintain cleanliness of gear.
• Perform general labor duties on sites, including truck cleaning, packing, and debris removal.
• Enter confined spaces to remove debris and perform detailed cleaning.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Position Summary

Our GFL Industrial Services team is seeking Field Labourers in Trail, BC. The successful candidates will join a team of highly trained individuals who provide supplemental support and expertise to various divisions. The Field Labourers will be required to assist with swamping and undertake various physical tasks to support the team. Additionally, the individuals must be versatile, be open to challenges and always display a positive attitude.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the Operator with the safe operation of the various units

• Assist the Operator with the set up and control hoses attached to the pumps to ensure the safe and effective pumping of water

• Install temporary equipment (including the installation of victaulic pipe, chemical house, mixing various chemicals)

• Participate in job site preparation, including the rigging in/out of equipment

• Spot the safe positioning of equipment

• Ensure all equipment is cleaned and stored

• Execute general labor duties on job sites, which include but are not limited to truck cleaning, equipment packing, preparation for demobilization, and debris removal from job sites

• Confined space entry to remove debris and perform detailed cleaning

• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Valid Class 5 drivers’ license with an acceptable commercial driving abstract is required.

• Ability to travel when required.

• Flexibility of working after-hours for any call outs.

• Previous experience working in various environments (i.e. confined space, heights, noisy and various and extreme weather conditions); Industrial pulp and paper and/or oil and gas experience is also an asset

• Swamping experience is an asset (i.e. Vacuum and Hydrovac work)
