Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Farm Technician or similar role focusing on irrigation systems.
• Strong mechanical and technical skills related to plumbing, pumps, electrical controls and water systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and blueprints for irrigation systems.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing common irrigation system failures.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
• Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems (drip, sprinkler, center pivot).
• Inspect irrigation infrastructure to identify issues before they impact operations.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and reliable Farm Technician with specialized experience in irrigation systems to join their team in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the farm's water management infrastructure. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and optimization of all irrigation equipment, playing a crucial part in supporting crop growth and water conservation efforts. This hands-on position requires technical proficiency and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair a variety of irrigation systems, including drip, sprinkler, and center pivot systems.
• Conduct regular inspections of irrigation infrastructure to identify and address potential issues before they impact operations.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with pumps, pipes, valves, filters, and control systems, performing necessary repairs.
• Assist in the planning and design of new irrigation layouts and upgrades to improve efficiency and water usage.
• Monitor water usage and system performance, making adjustments to optimize water application for crop needs.
• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with farm policies and environmental regulations specific to the Kimberley region.
