Job summary

Access Credit Union is seeking a Facilities & Operations Technician Assistant to provide essential maintenance support across Access properties and subsidiaries. You will assist the Facilities & Operations Technician, help with plumbing, electrical and mechanical tasks, and coordinate with site personnel to resolve issues.

The role requires a Grade 12 diploma, 3–5 years in construction or maintenance, basic HVAC/plumbing/electrical knowledge, and a Manitoba Class 5 license.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of experience in construction or maintenance operations.
  • Basic familiarity with HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.
  • Valid class 5 Manitoba Driver's license.
  • Willingness to upgrade trade knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize using sound judgment.
  • Knowledge of credit union policies on risk and privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with custodial tasks and general maintenance around buildings.
  • Support plumbing, electrical and mechanical system operations.
  • Assist tradespeople with major repairs and renovations.
  • Liaise with property personnel to address concerns.
  • Ensure life safety equipment and evacuation plans are up to date.
  • Travel between locations to service buildings and be on call.
  • Represent Access competencies in public interactions.
  • Keep maintenance up to date and timely.
  • Adhere to safety, privacy and security requirements.

Job Description

The Facilities & Operations Technician Assistant is responsible to provide general support to the Facilities & Operations Technician as they perform maintenance services to the Access Properties, as well as complete general maintenance items as needed to the organization’s facilities in all Access and Subsidiaries locations.

Responsibilities
  • Maintenance provides a variety of custodial functions in and around buildings, including setup and removal of furniture, changing light bulbs, signage bulbs, filters and touch up painting, debris pick up, etc. as required
  • Assist the Facilities & Operations Technician to ensure the efficient operation of all plumbing, electric and mechanical systems
  • Provide a variety of minor building maintenance and repair tasks and when assistance is necessary.
  • Assist/supervises trades people or specialists with major repairs, building renovations and maintenance operations
  • Provide a positive liaison with appointed personnel at each property, addressing their concerns
  • Assist in ensuring that the buildings life safety equipment and systems, as well as the buildings emergency evacuation plans are up to date and kept in excellent operational condition
  • Travel between various locations to service buildings and be on call for emergencies as required
  • Represent Access competencies in all public interactions
  • Ensure that all maintenance is kept up to date and done in a timely manner
Essential Qualifications
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years experience working within the Construction Industry
  • Basic familiarity with HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Building Construction
  • Valid class 5 Manitoba Driver’s license
  • Willingness to upgrade trade based knowledge
  • Strong experience in taping and painting is preferred
  • Demonstrated desire to serve others in a friendly and professional manner
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail with high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced environment and perform well under pressure
  • Ability to prioritize using sound judgment to make timely and effective decisions
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of credit union policies and procedures on risk management, security and fraud prevention
  • Observe all credit union policies and security requirements for privacy, safeguarding information, frauds, forgeries and holdup procedures
  • Ability to follow standardized policies and procedures
Location and Reporting

Note: This position reports to 40 Furniture Park Road, Winnipeg MB on a daily basis.

Starting Salary $51,139.00

Salary Band $51,139.00 - $62,594.00

In most situations, candidates will be offered the starting salary for the position. In exceptional circumstances, and at the organization’s discretion, an offer may be made above the stated minimum based on factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and external compensation factors. When underfilling a position, the salary offered may be in a lower salary band.
