Job summary

Alstom in Toronto is seeking an External Permits Manager to lead permit coordination for major infrastructure projects. You will prepare and submit permits such as street occupancy, road cuts, and environmental approvals while keeping records compliant and audit-ready.

You’ll work with design, construction, and external stakeholders to track submissions, review comments, and ensure timely approvals under Ontario regulations, with growth opportunities across functions and sites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, or a related field.
  • Experience with permitting or infrastructure projects and regulatory processes is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Ontario regulations and legislation is advantageous.
  • Strong coordination and multitasking abilities are essential.
  • Clear communication skills and attention to detail are required.

Could you be the full-time External Permits Manager in Toronto we’re looking for?

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your coordination and regulatory expertise in a new cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside proactive and detail-oriented teammates.

You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely and compliant execution of permit and approval applications, supporting the success of critical infrastructure projects. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (design, construction, and external stakeholders), track and manage permit submissions, and much more.

You’ll specifically take care of preparing and submitting permits such as street occupancy, road cuts, and environmental approvals, but also maintain comprehensive records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

We’ll look to you for:
  • Identifying and planning all permit requirements by reviewing project documentation
  • Maintaining a comprehensive permit register aligned with the project schedule
  • Preparing and submitting complete and compliant permit applications
  • Tracking submission dates, review comments, and approval timelines
  • Coordinating with external stakeholders and authorities
  • Ensuring compliance and maintaining audit-ready records of all submissions
  • Identifying and mitigating issues affecting permit approvals
  • Supporting land access requirements and submitting Permit to Enter (PTE) requests

  • A professional certification such as EIT or PMP

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is$102,000 – $134,000 CADper year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
