Job summary

Alstom in Toronto, Canada, seeks an experienced E&M Systems Lead to manage technical scope, drive delivery plans, and ensure project performance and safety compliance. You will work with cross‑functional teams across deployment, engineering, and commissioning, guiding risk management and interface definitions to successful acceptance.

Ideal candidates have a PE license or pursue it, 5+ years in railway tech roles, and strong client relationship skills in contractual settings, with fluent English

  • Minimum 5 years on railway projects in a technical role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the technical contractual scope with the customer and the scope of work.
  • Ensure performance and customer acceptance of the project solution.
  • Support deployment and coordinate activities through final acceptance.
  • Drive the baseline delivery plan and coordinate team execution.
  • Enforce rigorous configuration, change control, and requirements management.
  • Identify interface gaps and work with the interface team to close them.
  • Oversee engineering risk management and mitigation plans.
  • Promote knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your engineering and system integration expertise in a cutting‑edge field. You’ll work alongside collaborative and dynamic teammates.

You’ll play a central role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada’s busiest public transit system while ensuring the successful delivery of world‑class solutions. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (System Deployment & Integration, Corridor Sub‑Systems, Engineering, Installation, Testing, and Commissioning), manage technical risks, ensure compliance with contractual obligations, and much more.

We’ll look to you to

  • Manage the technical contractual scope of the project in collaboration with the customer by writing, and controlling the technical portion of, the scope of work, in addition to supporting documents
  • Make sure performance and customer acceptance of the project solution.
  • Support the project engineering manager in the deployment of the project solution and coordinating activities until final acceptance.
  • Support the project engineering manager in driving the baseline delivery plan and coordinating the team for its execution
  • Make sure rigorous configuration and change control management and requirements management are enforced.
  • Manage the application of external information to the bundle in a controlled way.
  • Technical review of system and subsystem documentation, making sure it aligns with the broader program, delivery strategy, and interface between internal and external parties.
  • Overseeing engineering risk management and mitigation plans.
  • Identify and review technical assumptions. Propose plans to close them and make sure they are closed.
  • Raise RFI (Request for Information) to customer and assess the response and define impact analysis and action plan
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and safety standards.
  • Identify gaps in interface definitions between sub‑systems and third parties and work with interface team to close them..
  • Supporting knowledge capitalization sand promoting continuous learning within the team.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related scientific field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or in the process of obtaining it
  • Experience in project deployment across the full lifecycle, including commissioning.
  • At least 5 years of experience working on railway projects in a technical role.
  • Strong customer relationship management in contractual settings.
  • Proactive communication and interpersonal skills
  • Analytical and critical thinking abilities
  • Problem-solving skills and decision‑making ability
  • Resilience, adaptability, and a continuous learning mindset.
  • Fluency in English, including writing in Simplified Technical English.

Compensation

The expected compensation for this role is $100,000 – $135,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.
