Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking an Excavator Operator to join the Mildred Lake operation, just north of Fort McMurray, AB. You will operate excavators and support equipment to deblock, load, and move sulfur material, while following safety rules and site procedures.

Ideal candidates demonstrate proficiency with gauges, basic math, and clear radio communication with field and office teams. A Class 3 license with air brakes is a plus and overtime may be available.

• Proven ability to operate excavators and related equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if required.
• Follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem-solving skills for handling multiple variables.

GFL Environmental is looking for an Excavator Operator to join our team in Mildred Lake just north of Fort McMurray, AB! The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate various excavators and other necessary machinery to deblock, load, and move sulfur material efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to deblock, load, and move sulfur material efficiently.

• Steer, guide, and/or drive assigned equipment using controls such as steering wheels, shifters, levers, buttons, and pedals.

• Communicate effectively via two-way radio with co-workers in the field and office regarding work activities and daily priorities.

• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial, and local laws, as well as company policies and safety regulations.

Requirements:

• Proven ability to operate various excavators and other equipment safely and efficiently.

• Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if required.

• Proven ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle multiple variables in a standardized setting.

• Ability to read and understand equipment gauges and perform basic mathematical functions.

• Physical capability to frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

• Class 3 License with Air Brakes Endorsement is an asset.
