Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator in Swift Current, SK to safely operate excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other heavy equipment at the site.

Responsibilities include daily inspections, lubrication, fluids checks, and steering duties as required. You will contribute to maintaining a safe, efficient yard and participate in safety meetings while supporting team goals.

Qualifications

• Operate and maintain heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, and bulldozers.
• Fulfill daily pre-shift inspections and daily grease/lubrication tasks.
• Follow safety protocols and site instructions with minimal supervision.
• Lift and move materials safely (up to 50 lbs occasionally).

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to bale and load waste or material into trailers.
• Perform equipment inspection and maintenance checks.
• Grease and lubricate equipment; monitor fluids daily.
• Steer, guide or drive listed equipment at the site with controls.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of grounds and facility.
• Attend safety and branch meetings.

Job description

GFL Environmental is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Swift Current, SK!

The ideal candidate will safely operate and/or have the ability to operate various equipment including excavator, front loader, bulldozer, or other heavy equipment and/or steer equipment to bale, load and move waste material.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate necessary equipment to bale and load waste or other material into trailers.
• Perform inspection and maintenance checks of equipment daily.
• Grease/lubricate equipment, check and add fluids to equipment daily
• Operator will steer, guide and or drive the above listed equipment at the assigned site, if the equipment is used at the particular site(s) using steering wheel, shifters, levers, buttons and pedals..
• Maintain appearance of the grounds and facility.
• Attend safety and branch meetings.

Requirements:

• Completion of forklift certification.
• Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed.
• Demonstrate ability to follow instructions and work under little supervision.
• Apply commonsense understanding to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in a standardized setting
• Must be able to frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
