Job summary

GFL Environmental is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Hinton, AB. The role involves operating a mini excavator to process material at a landfill, while ensuring safety and productivity in day-to-day field operations.

Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined, able to work independently, with landfill experience considered an asset; certification in landfill operations may be pursued if needed. Flexible hours and safety are emphasized at TEAM GREEN.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating heavy equipment, including mini excavators.
  • Willing to work flexible hours.
  • Experience with front end loaders, dozers and compactors is an asset.
  • Landfill experience is an asset; mechanically inclined and able to work independently.
  • Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed.
  • Previous operations, transportation, waste management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mini excavator to process smaller material in a landfill setting.
  • Ensure operations are performed productively and safely.
  • Perform minor equipment maintenance, basic mechanical work, and complete paperwork (pre/post-trips, FLHAs, incident reports, etc.).
  • Contribute to a healthy and safe working environment for all.
  • Ensure company policy, systems and industry training are followed at all times.
  • Maintain working knowledge of equipment to manage solid waste and/or cover materials.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

GFL Environmental is looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Hinton, AB! The Heavy Equipment Operator will assist in the day-to-day field operations to ensure efficient processing of material and site safety standards are met.

Requirements
  • Experience operating heavy equipment. Primarily Mini Excavators.
  • Willing to work flexible hours.
