GFL Environmental is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Hinton, AB. The role supports day-to-day field operations, ensuring efficient material processing and adherence to site safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment, primarily mini excavators.
• Willing to work flexible hours.
• Landfill experience is an asset.
• Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed.

• Ensure operations are performed productively and safely.
• Minor equipment maintenance and basic mechanical work; complete paperwork (pre/post-trips, FLHAs, incident reports).

Requirements

• Experience operating heavy equipment. Primarily Mini Excavators.
• Willing to work flexible hours.
• Experience working with Front End Loaders and Dozers and Compactors considered an asset.
• The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, able to work independently, and has landfill experience (considered an asset).
• Ability to obtain Transfer Station/Landfill Operations Certification if needed.
• Previous operations, transportation, waste management experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate mini excavator to process smaller material in a landfill setting.
• Ensure operations are performed productively and safely.
• Minor equipment maintenance, basic mechanical work, and completing paperwork (pre/post-trips, FLHAs, incident reports, etc.).
• Contribute to a healthy and safe working environment for all.
• Ensure company policy, systems, and industry related training is followed at all times.
• Working knowledge of equipment to manage solid waste and/or cover materials.
• Other duties as assigned.
