Job summary

Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is seeking a Custodian to maintain clean, sanitary, and attractive school buildings and facilities in Halifax. The role involves performing cleaning and maintenance duties in a professional, proactive, and safe manner according to department policies.

The position reports to the Caretaker and Building Management Supervisor and is governed by the NSUPE collective agreement.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs to perform cleaning duties.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Able to work all shift schedules including day, evening and nights.
• Previous janitorial experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, sanitary, and attractive school buildings and facilities.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance duties in a professional and safe manner.
• Follow policies and procedures of the department and centre.
• Report to the Caretaker and Building Management Supervisor as directed.
