Job summary

Halifax Regional Centre for Education seeks a Custodian to support the Operations Services Department by maintaining clean, sanitary, and attractive school facilities. You will perform cleaning and maintenance duties in a proactive and safe manner, adhering to policies under the direction of the Caretaker and Building Management Supervisor.

The role is part of the NSUPE collective agreement and may involve adjusting hours for part-time arrangements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs to perform cleaning duties.
• Basic computer skills for school systems and reporting.
• Able to work day, evening and night shifts.
• Previous janitorial experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain school buildings and facilities.
• Keep facilities sanitary and attractive, following safety policies.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance duties in a proactive manner.
• Report to the Caretaker and Building Management Supervisor.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Able to lift 50 lbs

Basic computer skills

Flexible shifts including day, evening and nights

Previous janitorial experience (asset)
