Job summary

Halifax Regional Centre for Education is seeking a Custodian to maintain clean, sanitary and attractive school facilities. The role contributes to the efficient operation of the Operations Services Department and adheres to department policies while working under supervision.

Eligible applicants include those under the NSUPE collective agreement, with flexibility to adjust hours for part-time arrangements and a commitment to equitable, inclusive hiring practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs to perform janitorial duties.
• Basic computer skills required for reporting and scheduling.
• Able to work all shift schedules including day, evening and nights.
• Previous janitorial experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and maintenance duties to keep school buildings sanitary and attractive.
• Operate in a professional, efficient, proactive and safe manner per department policies.
• Report to the Caretaker and take direction from the Building Management Supervisor.
