Job summary

EllisDon Corporation in Ottawa is seeking an experienced Estimator to lead bid processes and assemble accurate estimates for ICI projects across design-build and CM formats.

You will organize sub-trade quotes, monitor project risks, and collaborate with management to balance bid prices while maintaining databases of labour and material costs.

Qualifications

• Construction-related degree/diploma required.
• Minimum 5 years estimating ICI projects.
• AutoCAD knowledge is an asset.
• Estimating experience in P3, Design Build, Design Build Facilities Management, Lump Sum, and Construction Management contracts is essential.
• Ability to work effectively and accurately in time-sensitive situations within a team.
• Eligible for Reliability Clearance.

• Lead a bid process, building relationships with sub-trades under pressure.
• Assemble accurate estimates for hard-bid, construction management and design-build projects.
• Organize sub-trade quotes, rewrite binders and assist the buy-out process.
• Monitor project outcomes, note challenges and build relationships with sub-trades for future opportunities.
• Distribute sub-trade quotes to personnel, flag areas of concern and coordinate with management to manage bid risk.
• Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing and project costs, for future reference.

You as an Estimator will:

• Confidently lead a team through the completion of a bid process under pressure while building strong relationships with sub-trades
• Assemble accurate, timely and well organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management and design-build
• Organize sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re-writing binders and assisting the buy-out process
• Monitor the success of a project, noting potential challenges and building relationships with sub-trades for future opportunities
• Distribute sub-trade quotes to personnel, flagging areas of concern and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price
• Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing and project costs, for future reference

Is this the right role for you?

• You have a construction-related degree/diploma and a minimum of 5 yeasr of estimating ICI projects
• Ability to use AutoCad is an asset
• You have a working knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts
• Estimating experience in P3, Design Build, Design Build Facilities Management, Lump Sum, and Construction Management contracts is essential
• You have the ability to work effectively and accurately in time-sensitive situations within a team
• Be comfortable working autonomously, while providing updates when needed, and following EllisDon procedures at all times
• Must be eligible for Reliability Clearance
• The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $115,000
