Job summary

EllisDon Corporation in Ottawa is seeking a Senior Estimator to lead bid processes for ICI projects, assembling accurate estimates and coordinating with sub-trades under tight deadlines.

The role requires 8–10 years of estimating experience in ICI, a construction-related degree/diploma, and the ability to work autonomously while aligning with EllisDon procedures. AutoCAD is a plus; reliability clearance is required.

Qualifications

• A construction-related degree/diploma is required.
• 8–10 years of estimating ICI projects.
• Ability to use AutoCAD is an asset.
• Knowledge of estimating objectives, strategies, and contracts.
• Experience in P3, Design Build, Design Build Facilities Management, Lump Sum, and Construction Management contracts.
• Ability to work effectively in time-sensitive situations within a team; autonomous work style.
• Eligible for Reliability Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team through a bid process under pressure and build relationships with sub-trades.
• Assemble accurate, timely estimates including hard-bid, CM, and DB projects.
• Organize sub-contractor quotes and assist in buy-out processes.
• Monitor project performance and manage sub-trade relations for future opportunities.
• Distribute quotes, flag concerns, and coordinate risk within bid price.
• Maintain databases of labour rates, material pricing, and project costs.

You as a Senior Estimator will:

• Confidently lead a team through the completion of a bid process under pressure while building strong relationships with sub-trades
• Assemble accurate, timely and well organized estimates, including hard-bid, construction management and design-build
• Organize sub-contractor quotes when the bid is successful, re‑writing binders and assisting the buy‑out process
• Monitor the success of a project, noting potential challenges and building relationships with sub‑trades for future opportunities
• Distribute sub‑trade quotes to personnel, flagging areas of concern and coordinating with management to accommodate risk within the bid price
• Maintain databases, including labour rates, material pricing and project costs, for future reference

Is this the right role for you?

• You have a construction‑related degree/diploma and a minimum of eight to ten years of estimating ICI projects
• Ability to use AutoCad is an asset
• You have a working knowledge of corporate objectives impacting estimating, estimating strategies and techniques, and construction contracts
• Estimating experience in P3, Design Build, Design Build Facilities Management, Lump Sum, and Construction Management contracts is essential
• You have the ability to work effectively and accurately in time‑sensitive situations within a team
• Be comfortable working autonomously, while providing updates when needed, and following EllisDon procedures at all times
• Must be eligible for Reliability Clearance
• The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $135,000
