Job summary

Construction PCL Inc. in Montreal is seeking an Estimating student to gain hands-on experience on real projects within the Canadian Buildings sector. You will learn PCL’s estimating manuals, assist with quantity surveys and support the lead estimator on bid day assignments.

Join us for 4 or 8 months starting January 2027, with weekly wages and opportunities to develop in-demand skills through mentorship and structured learning programs.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Understanding and utilizing PCL’s estimating manuals, systems and forms
• Reviewing quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Chief Estimator
• Performing assigned quantity survey
• Giving quantities of major purchase items to purchasing department for pricing
• Transferring quantities to lead estimator
• Bid document control
• Performing bid day assignments
• Visiting job sites periodically
• Developing relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator

PCL Student wages are determined individually for each student based on the number of completed school terms,relevant work terms, kind of role and work location.
