Job summary

PCL Constructors Canada Inc. in Winnipeg is seeking an Estimating Student for a 4‑month term with potential extension.

This role offers hands‑on exposure to estimating procedures, quantity surveying and bid preparation within the Winnipeg district of the Canadian Buildings sector. You will learn PCL’s estimating manuals and participate in site‑based quantity surveys, helping the lead estimator and Chief Estimator prepare bids, quantities and pricing while building professional relationships with

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
• Application of various computer software programs will be required, including word processing, spreadsheet applications and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Understanding and utilizing PCL’s estimating manuals, systems and forms
• Reviewing quantity survey assignment with lead estimator or Chief Estimator
• Performing assigned quantity survey
• Giving quantities of major purchase items to purchasing department for pricing
• Transferring quantities to lead estimator
• Bid document control
• Performing bid day assignments
• Visiting job sites periodically
• Developing relationships with subcontractors
• Other duties as assigned by the Chief Estimator
