Job summary

RBC in Toronto is seeking an Applications Support professional for the Sophis platform used in the equity derivatives business. You will ensure stability, perform after-hours releases, and participate in weekend on-call rotations across front, middle, and back office teams.

The role emphasizes data quality, monitoring (ITRS Geneos), and coordination across Support, Development, Analytics, and Quants, with opportunities to automate tasks and improve business continuity.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience supporting applications on equity derivatives or similar business.
• SQL language (3 years, Oracle preferred)
• Python scripting experience (1-2 years)
• Monitoring experience of high availability trading applications, batch processing or similar.
• Job Scheduler experience (i.e. BMC Control-M, Autosys, Cron, etc.)
• Windows Server (3 years)
• Linux experience (3 years)

Responsibilities

• Quickly address issues pertaining to front office, middle office and back office that impact the business’ ability to perform daily functions.
• Drive improved stability and higher quality of data delivered to front office, middle office and back office.
• Contribute and improve the configuration of our monitoring platform ITRS, while actioning triggered events.
• Document new issues that occur and maintain/enhance existing documentation to ensure consistent steps performed for known issues.
• Coordinate between several groups to remediate issues (Support, Development, Analytics, Quants).
• Investigate pricing failures and resolve issues utilization various skills including SQL, Unix, Windows.
• Develop scripts to automate processes using Powershell and other scripting languages.
• Engage in platform related projects which include vulnerability remediation, business continuity practice and automation of day-to-day tasks.
• Perform change and release practices to deploy proprietary and vendor based software.
• Weekend checkouts on rotation will be required to ensure stable start of week.
• Rotation of shift schedules might require late shift (10-7 PM EST).
