Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Short Term Planning Engineer, the surveyor will be part of the Engineering Department – Underground Operations. You will primarily be involved in the accurate measurement and recording of the progression of mine workings, further ensuring the recorded information is translated into mining plans in a clear and timely manner. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.

  • Install laser stations and complete regular survey updates for all development headings underground;
  • Complete void scan surveys of underground workings (stopes, raises, etc) in order to monitor production status and create as-builts, using the available technology (CMS/CALS, Lidar, Drone);
  • Complete Hole collar pick-up, breakthrough & gyroscopic surveys of drillholes activities to assist with stope blast design & timing, as as-built documentation;
  • Ensure all information is processed and transferred onto the appropriate mining plans and made available to the end user(s) in a timely and efficient manner;
  • Produce a bi-monthly reconciliation of the mine‑wide development meters and associated volume excavated from the underground workings, attributing each reconciled meter as directed;
  • Develop and contribute to the development of standardized work procedures of surveying activities;
  • Building and maintaining clean 3D solids of underground workings in a timely manner;
  • Conduct surface markups, stockpile scans, and other survey needs to support surface construction.
Qualifications

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

  • College degree in mining, civil engineering, surveying, or geomatics;
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in surveying;
  • Underground mining experience is considered an asset;
  • Basic Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core or equivalent is an asset;
  • Expertise with survey equipment (total station, CMS, CALS, drone & rover, LiDAR, gyro) and processing software (PointStudio);
  • Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, & PowerPoint;
  • Knowledge and experience with Deswik software is considered an asset;
  • Must be able to work independently and within a team structure;
  • Works well in fast‑paced environment;
  • Ability to effectively prioritize job duties;
  • Interest and/or experience in mine rescue is considered an asset.

Note that the official working language at Detour is English.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Schedule: 7 days of work, followed by 7 days off;
  • Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
Compensation and Benefits

Compensation Statement

In accordance with applicable legislation, the expected compensation includes base salary and potential bonus opportunity. Your individual pay will reflect your skills and experience while remaining competitive within the local market.

Minimum Compensation: $91,000
Maximum Compensation: $121,000
