40 hours a week; 24 hours emergency response and on call service required for building maintenance, safety and security matters. Work hours are scheduled to reflect the needs of the Environmental Services team’s operations.

Working within the mission, vision and core values of Wing Kei, the Environmental Services Coordinator plans, develops and supports in the maintenance of the facility, housekeeping, and laundry systems at Wing Kei. This position assists in ensuring that Wing Kei is safe, healthy, and well-maintained for residents and staff, in accordance with the government policies and standards, the organization’s vision, strategic direction and Person/Family Centred Care approach.

Key Accountabilities
  • In consultation with the Manager of Environmental Services, ensures that sanitation and building guidelines are being met to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Ensures that the facility is maintained in a good operating condition and in compliance with relevant government legislations and standards, with due consideration of the resources available through effective implementation and monitoring of adequate technology and resources.
  • Effectively plans, directs and implements assigned facility projects within scope, schedule, budget, and in compliance with all relevant legislations.
  • Responsible for coordinating and supervising the operation of the Housekeeping/Laundry team.
  • Assists in the development and effective implementation of maintenance and Housekeeping/Laundry programs.
  • Coordinates with staff to maintain the facility and housekeeping/laundry equipment and associated fixed assets. This may include the coordination of contractor services if required.
  • Supervises and manages the scheduling, training programs, and performance of staff in the Hospitality and Facilities department.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of effective internal budgeting, expenditure and inventory control.
  • Assists in finding reliable sources for supplying goods and services.
  • Communicates and collaborates with interdepartmental groups to assist and enable organizational operations and effective service.
THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL SUCCEED
  • Post-secondary education at the college or university level in engineering, construction-related fields or approved equivalent, orFacilities Management Certificate (FMC), Building Systems Maintenance Certificate (SMC), Trades Certificate, 4 th / 5 th Class Power Engineer or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years in facilities management experience; experience in a supervisory role is an asset.
  • Good time management skills; self-starter, adaptable, and flexible.
  • Ability to deal change proactively; creative and innovative.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of legislations and relevant procedures regarding building standards, Emergency Responses, Occupational Health & Safety, preventative maintenance, and housekeeping/laundry functions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English, knowledge of Chinese is a definite asset.
