BC Hydro in Prince George is seeking an Environmental Risk Manager 1 for a temporary, full-time role. The candidate will lead environmental risk efforts on large construction projects and coordinate with contractors and regulators.

The role requires at least eight years in environmental work, including leadership experience, and a degree in environmental sciences or engineering. A BC professional registration path is preferred and a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight years of progressively responsible experience in the environmental field, including at least three years in a people leadership role.
• Post-secondary degree in environmental sciences, engineering, or another relevant discipline.
• Equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.

Responsabilités

• Understand and implement the NCTL project environmental requirements, CEMP, EPPs, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with BC Hydro’s construction and environmental teams, NR Specialists, Contractors, and Regulators.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to field personnel and management on environmental issues.
• Implement, monitor, and clarify Environmental Protection Plans for Contractors and BC Hydro.
• Observe, record, and report on environmental compliance of construction activities.
• Review, approve, and manage contractor environmental submissions and RFIs.
• Identify, document, and report environmental incidents and communicate related issues.
• Develop and advance relationships with Aboriginal communities, First Nations Guardians, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Lead onsite Natural Resource Specialists and ensure effective response to environmental concerns.
