Job summary

GE Vernova’s Hydro Power business seeks an experienced Contract Manager to lead contractual and commercial activities for major hydro projects in Canada, mainly British Columbia. You will support bidding, negotiation, execution, close-out and warranty, guiding cross‑functional teams with risk, claims, and change management.

The role emphasizes strategic contract planning, back‑to‑back agreements with suppliers, and proactive risk mitigation within a dynamic project environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Business, Finance, Law, or a related technical or commercial discipline.
• 8+ years of contract management experience in complex environments (EPC, construction, infrastructure, energy, or major industrial sectors).
• Understanding of the Canadian energy or infrastructure sector.
• Experience with public utilities or sophisticated infrastructure customers.
• Ability to draft and manage complex amendments, changes, claims, and contractual submissions.
• Strong grasp of project financials (costs, margins, risks, cash impact) and their contract link.
• Ability to analyze, structure, and solve complex contractual problems.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Proactive, own initiatives and willingness to improve processes.
• Strong written and spoken English skills.
• Willingness to travel 15–25%.

Responsibilities

• Manage the contractual aspects of assigned projects from bid preparation through execution, close-out and warranty.
• Draft, review, and tailor commercial and contractual clauses per project needs.
• Participate in negotiation and finalization of contracts, amendments, change orders, and related arrangements.
• Prepare contractual notices, amendments and claims in line with contract requirements and governance.
• Ensure project teams understand rights, responsibilities and obligations.
• Collaborate with Project Director to develop mitigation measures and opportunity plans.
• Support project teams in establishing KPIs for contractual risk and opportunity management.
• Lead development of contract management plans and ensure back-to-back supplier/subcontractor agreements where applicable.
