Job summary

Egis Canada seeks an Environmental Engineer - Geoscientist to join our growing Environmental team across Ontario, focusing on excess soils management, hydrogeology, and related site investigations.

You will coordinate geo-environmental projects, perform Phase I/II ESAs, support remediations, and liaise with clients to meet deadlines and budgets while guiding fieldwork and reporting.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Science or Engineering.
  • Licensed P.Eng. or P.Geo in good standing with PEO or PGO.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in ESAs, hydrogeology, or remediation.
  • Proficient with MS Office and GINT; reporting and data analysis.
  • Strong English communication; willingness to travel across Ontario.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate ESAs, hydrogeology, and remediation for major infrastructure projects.
  • Lead Phase I/II ESAs and write proposals; manage project budgets.
  • Oversee fieldwork, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Liaise with clients to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
  • Travel across Ontario; support other high-profile projects as needed.

Job description

We are looking for an Environmental Engineer - Geoscientist to join the growing Environmental team.

Responsibilities
  • Environmental support and coordination pertaining to major infrastructure projects across Ontario, primarily focused on excess soils management and/or hydrogeology
  • Manage/coordinate geo-environmental projects, including but not limited to: Excess Soils Projects (APU, SAP, SCR, ESDAR)
  • Hydrogeological Assessments
  • Phase I and II ESAs
  • Remediations
  • Waste Disposal Site Monitoring and Designated Substance Surveys
  • Write winning proposals, set and adhere to project budgets
  • Oversee and provide direction on technical fieldwork, analysis, and reporting
  • Liaise with high-profile clients to ensure project needs are met on-time and on-budget
  • Temporary assignment on other high-profile projects, including Pearson Airport LIFT, Hamilton LRT, etc.
  • Other duties as may be required from time to time
Requirements
  • Completion of a university degree in Science or Engineering
  • Licensure as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. in good standing with PEO or PGO
  • Minimum of 5 years' demonstrated experience in managing or coordinating ESAs, hydrogeology, and/or remediation work
  • Design skills with good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Projects, Access, Outlook), Gint and other standard software for reporting, drawing, data analysis and communications
  • Excellent initiative, a sense of pride in your work, and willingness to support your team
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English (French would be considered an asset)
  • Good attention to detail, problem solving skills, ability to think creatively and research independently
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently in the field and in an office setting
  • Both field and reporting experience in the areas of environmental site assessments, site remediation and hydrogeological studies, including soil and groundwater sampling and field hydraulic conductivity testing
  • Knowledge with O. Reg. 153/04 (Brownfields and amendments) requirements, O.Reg406/19 (Excess Soil Management), O. Reg. 63/16 (Ontario Water Resource Act), O. Reg. 387/04 (Water Taking and Transfer Regulation) O. Reg 347 Waste Regulation, O. Reg 903 (and amendments) and other environmental regulations in Ontario
  • Experience working on large infrastructure projects and familiarity with environmental regulations across Canada is an asset
  • Ability to travel throughout Ontario and occasionally out-of-province for work assignments
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance
