Job summary

Egis Group in Ontario is seeking an Environmental Engineer - Geoscientist to join our growing Environmental team. You will coordinate major infrastructure projects, focusing on excess soils management and hydrogeology, with opportunity for fieldwork and reporting across Ontario.

The role requires a university degree in science or engineering and licensure as a P.Eng. or P.Geo, along with strong MS Office skills and English communication. Ontario travel is expected.

Qualifications

• University degree in Science or Engineering is required.
• Licensure as a P.Eng. or P.Geo in good standing with PEO or PGO is required.
• Good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Projects, Access, Outlook) and reporting tools is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide environmental support and coordination for major infrastructure projects in Ontario, focusing on excess soils management and hydrogeology.
• Manage geo-environmental projects including Excess Soils, Hydrogeological Assessments, Phase I/II ESAs, remediations and monitoring.
• Write proposals, manage project budgets, and supervise technical fieldwork and reporting.
• liaise with high-profile clients to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Travel within Ontario and occasionally out-of-province for assignments.

Job Description

We are looking for anEnvironmental Engineer - Geoscientist to join the growing Environmental team. In this role, you will:

• Environmental support and coordination pertaining to major infrastructure projects across Ontario, primarily focused on excess soils management and/or hydrogeology;
• Manage/coordinate geo-environmental projects, including but not limited to:
  • Excess Soils Projects (APU, SAP, SCR, ESDAR);
  • Hydrogeological Assessments;
  • Phase I and II ESAs;
  • Remediations;
  • Waste Disposal Site Monitoring; and
  • Designated Substance Surveys.
• Write winning proposals, set and adhere to project budgets;
• Oversee and provide direction on technical fieldwork, analysis, and reporting;
• Liaise with high-profile clients to ensure project needs are met on-time and on-budget;
• Temporary assignment on other high-profile projects, including Pearson Airport LIFT, Hamilton LRT, etc.;
• Other duties as may be required from time to time.

Qualifications

• Completion of a university degree in Science or Engineering;
• Licensure as a P.Eng. or P.Geo. in good standing with PEO or PGO;
• Minimum of 5years’ demonstrated experience in managing or coordinating ESAs, hydrogeology, and/or remediation work;
• Design skills with good working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Projects, Access, Outlook), Gint and other standard software for reporting, drawing, data analysis and communications;
• Excellent initiative, a sense of pride in your work, and willingness to support your team;
• Excellent oral and written communications skills in English (French would be considered an asset);
• Good attention to detail, problem solving skills, ability to think creatively and research independently;
• Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently in the field and in an office setting;
• Both field and reporting experience in the areas of environmental site assessments, site remediation and hydrogeological studies, including soil and groundwater sampling and field hydraulic conductivity testing;
• Knowledge with O. Reg. 153/04 (Brownfields and amendments) requirements, O.Reg406/19 (Excess Soil Management), O. Reg. 63/16 (Ontario Water Resource Act), O. Reg. 387/04 (Water Taking and Transfer Regulation) O. Reg 347 Waste Regulation, O. Reg 903 (and amendments) and other environmental regulations in Ontario;
• Experience working on large infrastructure projects and familiarity with environmental regulations across Canada is an asset;
• Ability to travel throughout Ontario and occasionally out-of-province for work assignments; and
• Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
