Job summary

Bluewater Hayes Inc. seeks an Engineering Manager to lead its Ontario plant, directing all engineering operations, planning, and strategic direction in collaboration with commercial and operations leaders.

This role focuses on driving improvements, coordinating with tooling and skilled trades, and enabling new product introductions. The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, bring 7+ years in tooling/die-casting within manufacturing, and 5+ years of leadership experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience leading engineering teams in a high-volume, precision manufacturing environment with complex tooling systems.
  • 7+ years in tooling, die-casting or engineering within manufacturing.
  • 5+ years of leadership with direct reports.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing, tooling, and engineering processes to improve efficiency, quality, and overall operational performance.
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary technical team including engineering, tooling, and skilled trades professionals.
  • Oversee engineering activities related to new product introduction, validation, and production readiness.
  • Lead new product introduction initiatives while meeting quality, timing, and cost objectives.
  • Ensure the engineering department partners with commercial and operations teams to support customer requirements and new business opportunities.
  • Ensure plant personnel, sales/marketing and other appropriate personnel are notified on product changes, modifications, and extensions.
  • Review and approve engineering project or product documentation and engineering analysis for consistency and accuracy. Review and screen product development requests for feasibility and completeness.

Our client is a large, privately held manufacturer with a global footprint, producing highly engineered components for a variety of industrial markets.

They are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead their operation. This individual is responsible for providing complete oversight for the direction, planning, and management of all engineering operations at the plant level. This is a highly collaborative role that serves on the leadership team, partnering with other functional leads in creating and implementing the strategic direction of the company.

Duties include
  • Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing, tooling, and engineering processes to improve efficiency, quality, and overall operational performance.
  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary technical team including engineering, tooling, and skilled trades professionals.
  • Oversee engineering activities related to new product introduction, validation, and production readiness.

The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or other relevant field
  • Experience leading engineering teams in a high-volume, precision manufacturing environment with complex tooling systems is highly preferred.
  • At least 7+ years of experience in tooling, die-casting or engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of leadership experience. Experience managing direct reports is required
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification preferred
