Job summary

Core Molding Technologies in Cobourg, ON is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to optimize equipment, processes, and automation on the plant floor. You will work closely with Production, Maintenance and Quality to improve safety, reliability, productivity and cost performance while supporting new product launches and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role is hands-on and requires strong mechanical aptitude, proficiency with SolidWorks and CAD, and the ability to lead or support capital

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience.
  • Experience supporting production equipment, processes and plant operations.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hydraulic knowledge and industrial equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes and equipment failures.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and project management skills.
  • Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and improve manufacturing equipment, tooling, and production processes using SolidWorks and CAD software.
  • Develop engineering drawings, documentation, and technical specifications.
  • Support capital projects including equipment purchases, upgrades, automation, and facility improvements.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and equipment issues using root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Design, build, and test prototypes, fixtures, and experimental equipment.
  • Provide day-to-day engineering support to Production and Maintenance teams.
  • Improve equipment reliability, manufacturing efficiency, quality, and operating costs.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity, and waste reduction.
  • Coordinate project schedules, budgets, risk management, and implementation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and applicable codes.
  • Document engineering changes and communicate improvements across the organization.

  • 5+ years of manufacturing or industrial engineering experience
  • Experience supporting production equipment, manufacturing processes, and plant operations
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulic systems and industrial equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes and equipment failures
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills
  • Comfortable working in a hands‑on manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
  • Experience with automation, robotics, or material handling systems
  • Experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical control systems
  • Exposure to compressors, chillers, cooling towers, or other industrial utilities
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of ergonomic assessments and industrial safety standards
